Music

I can describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place

Over the past 7 weeks I have been learning to describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place

I can describe these characteristics in a piece of music form (how the song was laid out), timbre(the special sounds that make every voice /instrument different) , harmony(Multiple notes that are played together all at once.

Major - Happy Song
Minor - Sad song),
melody(A series of single notes that are played repetitively.) and rhythm(Repeated sounds that can change speed through the song.)

Here is an example of my learning music are all these characteristics in this music

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.

We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are integrity, motivational, active thinker, trustworthy, goal focused and resilient.

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is resilience because when I am doing peer mediation and there are some really silly problems I have to help with.

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is motivational because I am not really good at motivating my peers and younger students.

Something NEW I have learned about leadership is that motivational is not the same as inspirational

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is relational because I have compared and contrasted leaders.

My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Reflection: I think I have worked actively to achieve this authors purpose map, have completed it up to standard.

My Argument

For writing we have been learning to write an argument using the writing process. The topic was “Are Devices Taking Over Our Lives”.

Something I did really well in my writing was my linking of paragraphs and using connectives
Here is a section of my writing that shows this.
iiii = linking paragraphs
iiii = connectives

We had other trends as well.

Secondly 30 years ago people went crazy about new music and sports. It shows that tech wasn't everything back then.

Getting involved leadership merit post 3

On Friday 8/4/16 at lunch time after I had come back from Te Hapua a few of my friends and I played football behind rm 8 - 11 with the goals as two rubbish bins and the side of the boiler room the game was pretty cool I think there were 2 goals scored after I came to play and it was fun there weren't a lot of people playing football with my friends and I believe it was a pretty close game.

I believe that I showed respect because when someone did something wrong I didn't hassle them because of that mistake they did.

Kapa Haka merit blog post 2

When I arrived at the hall on Friday the 8/3/16 about half the people were already there so we waited for everyone to come before we started doing some songs like hallelujah in Maori and Taitapu with the actions before Mr Brown asked the apprentice group to go back to class so they could do some work on the positions of the performance group for the cultural festival.

I think I showed resilience because I had to leave early so they could work on the performance group.

Peer Mediation Merit blog post 1

On Thursday the 7th of April I had my peer mediation duty, when I got my gear on a little kid came up to me and said that two of their friends had been fighting, so I helped them find one of the people involved in the fight and when we found them Mr Hillary was there so I let him fix the problem. Then Grace and I just walked through the year three area and went to the senior playground. We had a few little problems, there were some people playing in the bushes and people throwing bark at one another. Then we walked around the field with no issues but before the bell rung we had a final problem were a girl had pushed another girl, who then pushed her back and said some mean words. We told them to talk to their teacher about it then we went back to class.

I think I showed active thinking when I was doing Peer mediation because I told the girl and her friend to go tell their teacher about their problem.
